How to point your domain at your site
Last updated
Use your own domain for a site: the www and bare-domain records to add, how long it takes and how to check it's working.
1. Bought here or elsewhere
If you bought or transferred your domain with Cloudzyro, you don't need to add any records. Open it in Domains, choose A Cloudzyro site under What it's for, pick the site and select Use this site. We point both www.example.com and example.com at it.
If your domain is with another company, first add it on your site's Domains tab, then add the records below wherever your DNS is managed.
2. The www record
Add a CNAME record for www pointing to domains.cloudzyro.app. Some providers want the full name, www.example.com, instead of www.
If your DNS is at Cloudflare, set the record to DNS only (the gray cloud), not Proxied.
3. The bare domain
The bare domain is the name without www, like example.com. The simplest way, which works with any DNS provider, is to send it to www: add an A record for the bare domain pointing to 173.234.137.167. Visitors are sent to https://www.example.com, keeping the rest of the address.
If your provider supports a CNAME, ALIAS, ANAME or flattened record on the bare domain (Cloudflare, Namecheap, Porkbun and others do), you can point it at domains.cloudzyro.app and use the bare domain as your main address instead.
4. How long it takes
Usually 5 to 15 minutes. The domain's status on the Domains tab goes from Waiting for DNS to Getting the certificate, then Live, and we email you when it's live. A record that was set to something else before can take longer to change everywhere.
5. HTTPS certificates
We get and renew the certificate for you, so your site is always served over HTTPS. There's nothing to buy or install.
6. Email records stay as they are
Only change the www and bare-domain records. Leave your MX, SPF and other email records alone, and your email keeps working as before.
