Railway pricing explained: plans, usage and what you'll really pay

How Railway's pricing works: the Free, Hobby and Pro plans, per-second CPU, memory and traffic charges, worked monthly examples and how to keep costs down.
1. Railway's plans at a glance
Railway charges a small monthly plan fee that includes the same amount of usage, then bills what your services use by the second. Figures from Railway's pricing page, checked on November 1, 2026:
- Trial: $0, with a one-time $5 credit that lasts 30 days. No card needed.
- Free: $0 a month, with $1 of usage a month.
- Hobby: $5 a month, including $5 of usage.
- Pro: $20 a month per workspace, including $20 of usage, with seats included.
- Enterprise: custom pricing.
2. How usage is billed
Everything your services use is measured by the second and added up over the month:
- CPU: $0.00000772 per vCPU per second, about $20 for one vCPU running all month
- Memory: $0.00000386 per GB per second, about $10 for each GB held all month
- Outbound traffic: $0.05 per GB
Your plan's included usage ($5 on Hobby, $20 on Pro) comes off that total first. You pay the plan fee or your usage, whichever is higher. Stopped services cost nothing.
3. Worked examples
These assume a service runs all month at the size shown. Real apps often use less CPU when they're quiet, so treat them as the top of the range.
- A small Node.js app using half a vCPU and 512 MB: about $10 for CPU plus $5 for memory, $15 a month. On Hobby that's the $5 fee covering the first $5, so $15 in total.
- The same app with a 1 GB database service on half a vCPU: about another $15, so around $30 a month before traffic.
- A site sending 200 GB a month: $10 of outbound traffic on top.
4. Limits by plan
- Custom domains: none on Free, 2 on Hobby, 20 on Pro
- Members: 1 on Free, 3 per project on Hobby, unlimited seats on Pro
5. How to keep your Railway bill down
- Give each service only the memory it needs, since memory is billed for every second it's held.
- Stop services you aren't using: stopped services cost nothing.
- Cache and compress what you send, since outbound traffic is billed per GB.
- Check the usage page during the month, not just on the invoice.
6. When a flat price fits better
If you'd rather know your bill before the month starts, Cloudzyro charges a flat price per site with compute and traffic included. The free Launch plan allows business use, with 1 CPU, 512 MB of memory and 100 GB of traffic. Boost is $20 a month per site with 2 CPUs, 2 GB of memory and 1 TB of traffic, and team members are always free. A busy site is slowed past its allowance, never charged extra.
